7-8:30 PM - Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher at Waccamaw Library. The concert, generously sponsored by the Friends of the Waccamaw Library, is free and will have light hors d'oeuvres, tea and water. Fletcher, an accomplished guitarist with an international fan base, has been featured at cultural venues of the highest caliber, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Cultural Center, and the George Eastman House, and in media outlets including National Public Radio, Turner Broadcasting System, Fox, and NBC. His recordings earn both critical acclaim and brisk sales. The program will feature some of his favorite composers, among them Michael Praetorius, Rowland Prichard, J.S. Bach, Edward Grieg, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Niccolo Paganini. He carries on the Segovia tradition of expanding the comparatively small classical guitar repertoire by transcribing from other instruments and even by commissioning new music.
